Open the Archive Draft - Magic: The Gathering

Magic Presents: Open the Archive is a Secrets of Strixhaven Draft with a twist! 

Each player will receive 3 Secrets of Strixhaven play boosters to draft from - each pack loaded with Mystical Archive cards, giving you the chance to draft some of Magic's most iconic spells reimagined with stunning alternate art.

Special Rules:

• Players begin each game with an emblem that states "Mana of any type can be spent to cast Mystical Archive cards."
• With each player's first pick from each pack, they also take the Mystical Archive card from that pack, the rest of the draft follows normal pick-1 drafting rules.

Important Information:

• Format: Booster Draft (keep what you draft), followed by 3 rounds of in-pod Swiss pairings.
• Times: See specific timings on each ticket.

  • Participants: A random promo item (from previous sets).
    
  • If you go 3-0 at the end of the event, you'll get a bonus Secrets of Strixhaven Play Booster.
    
  • If you go 0-3 at the end of the event, you'll get a random Universes Beyond Play Booster.
  • Top player in each pod earns a Mystical Archive Challenge Coin (blind-boxed).

How to Booster Draft:

Each player will start with three booster packs. They will all simultaneously open a booster pack and pick a single card without showing the other players. Then they will pass the remaining cards to the left, and continues drafting from the new cards they get from the player on their right. This continues until all of the cards in those packs have been distributed (drafted). Then each player opens a second pack, but this time, pass the pack to the right. After all those cards are drafted, you do the same with the third pack, passing to the left again. At the end, each player will have about 45 cards (along with any number of basic lands) which they can use to build a 40 card deck.

Players are expected to understand the basic rules and etiquette of Magic: the Gathering and can play unassisted. It is a requirement of the event, prizes and promos that you have registered with and use the Magic Companion App.
