Session

Behold Games is passionate about nurturing the role-playing community, and we're excited to have some of our community members host open-table RPG sessions.

These sessions are open to anyone who wishes to join them, simply reserve a spot by buying a ticket which covers the room hire for the community GM's use.

Each week is a different RPG system, and beginners are absolutely welcome, however our sessions are all age 18+ (unless otherwise noted). All sessions start at 6:30PM and wrap up by 10:30PM.

Upcoming Sessions:

Thu 16 July. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOAT GIRL!

GM: Hannah (she/they)
Players: 3-6
Age: 18+

From award winning game designer, Grant Howitt, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOAT GIRL!

🐐🎂 GREAT NEWS. You are a GOAT GIRL and it is ALWAYS YOUR BIRTHDAY!. Nothing can go wrong because IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!. You're having a shared birthday party with other goat girls and nobody, I mean NOBODY, not even the God or the authorities can stop you, because IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!

Wed 22 July. EAT GOD

Grand Muppet: Rachel (she/him)
Players: 3-6
Age: 18+

What does it mean to eat God? Is “God” the systems of oppression we build to keep others down, and eating God means throwing off those chains? Is “God” the culmination of an error in our understanding of reality, and eating God means finding another way to be? Or is “God” just a great big tyrant in the sky, and eating God means exactly what you think it means?

A tabletop roleplaying game about causing problems on purpose as small, funny-looking muppety things. In plainer terms, Eat God is a parody of games about reality-warping martial artists with full sentences for names on a quest to dethrone God, casting players as gender-ambiguous googley-eyed critters sticking it to the Man through the power of gratuitous cartoon violence. Is this an effective way to bring about structural change? There's only one way to find out.

Thu 30 Jul. Fortunes and Folly at Midsummer (Good Society)

Facilitator: Blair (he/him)
Players: 3-5
Age: 18+

Every three years for the month of the summer solstice, the connection between the fae and mortal realms strengthens and binds as the fae celebrate the solstice. For those that know of the binding, or are too foolish to heed their steps, it is a chance for fae and humans to cross into each other’s worlds without peril, eat of the fruits that grow so ripe, and bask in the sun of a foreign sky. But a month is merely a month, and passes by too soon. When it ends, those who crossed must make a choice - to stay in an alien land, or to return home.

Players in Good Society hold the power to control the story itself, and change it in their favour. Take control of influential connections, create rumour and scandal, and spend tokens to orchestrate balls, carriage accidents, and even marriages.

Wed 5 Aug. Shock: Social Science Fiction

Facilitator: Blair (he/him)
Players: 2-4
Age: 18+

What happens when a mind is no longer tied to a body? What happens when those of greatest ability are enslaved by those of greatest power? What happens when Humanity is the new kid on the block? When minds are read like books and books are illegal?

Shock is a game where we choose a radical difference between our world and a fictional world and some issues or concerns, and then explore it as protagonists and their opposition. The game plays out like “what if” science fiction.

Thu 13 Aug. Dust Town Mystery (Kids on Bikes)

GM: Hannah (She/They)
Players: 3-6
Age: 18+

Kids on Bikes is a mystery roleplaying game set in small towns. The town the players characters will be exploring is right in the middle of the Australian Outback. The heat is dry, the dirt is red, the internet sucks and there's barely any phone reception - but something is out there.

Players and GM together will weave a story investigating the strange goings on and uncovering mysteries in a town that's in the middle of nowhere.

Wed 19 Aug. Pigeon’s Eleven (Polymorph)

The House: Blair (he/him)
Players: 3-5
Age: 18+

You are birds who are professional con artists. There's a grand heist to steal some tasty tasty food (e.g. smuggling a loaf of bread out of a museum breakroom in a priceless vase). You may have beaks and feathers, but you are also crafty thieves who can pick locks, counterfeit credentials, hold jobs, and talk!

Thu 27 Aug. Pasión de las Pasiones (PbtA)

GM: Blair (he/him)
Players: 3-5

Age: 18+

Pasión de las Pasiones is a game of passion, drama, secrets, delights, and heated conflict. In Pasión de las Pasiones, you and your friends will play out the stories of the greatest telenovela ever to air! You won’t be playing the actors, directors, or camera crew; instead, you’ll be playing characters like El Gemelo, scheming and dangerous, or La Empleada, innocent character and striving for love. You’ll play through stories with dramatic reveals, explosive confrontations, faked deaths, and more!

What you need to know:

  • The person running or facilitating the game each week will explain the rules on the night, no need for preparation. Complexity will vary, but the vibe will always be casual and supportive. There won't be any pressure to "get the rules right".
  • They'll provide characters to choose from where appropriate.
  • Players should bring pen and paper and a set of polyhedral dice (we also sell dice in the store!).
  • They will try to capture the "vibe" of each game in the descriptions. Players are encouraged to match that energy.
  • Different games use different dice. They'll make sure to provide what is needed, but everyone is welcome to bring their own standard set if they want to.
  • The room will be open from 6pm and the introduction/game will start at 6:30.
  • All games are 18+ unless otherwise noted. This is at the GMs discretion.
  • The Community RPG Club only takes on GMs who have participated in RPGs run by the group already - if you're interested in running a game please start by attending some and getting to know the group first.
